In 2015, California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill – AB 601 – which hopes to crack down on social work regulations in California. The enacted bill will now require the state Department of Social Services “to cross-check applicant information with the state Department of Public Health.” By doing so, the Department of Social Services can better regulate licenses by finding applicants who do not provide full disclosure and licenses with falsified documentation. Governor Brown signed the bill in hope of reducing the growing neglect and elder abuse in nursing homes.
